AERIAL FOREST FIRE SUPPRESSION – REASONS BEHIND CURRENT INEFFECTIVENESS
When extinguishing high-altitude forest fires from the air, two problems are consistently encountered:

AERIAL SUPPRESSION WITH A CLOUD OF MICRODROPLETS Using an extinguishing container containing 200 liters of water, approximately 400-600 m2 of burning surface can be extinguished. The UAV/drone drops the container above the fire, and at a pre-set height, the container detonates with a small and highly controlled explosion, turning the water inside into a cloud of microdroplets. RAPID SPEED OF THE MICRODROPLET CLOUD The controlled explosion transforms extinguishing water into microdroplets while giving the resulting cloud of microdroplets high speed. This facilitates the spread and expansion of the cloud over a long distance, allowing the extinguishing of 1 liter of water to cover 2-3 m2 of burning surface. The high speed of microdroplets enables the extinguishing water to penetrate the structure of a burning tree and prevent or reduce re-ignition.
